Málaga beat Valladolid 1-0 to move up to ninth place, only four points now away from the UEFA cup spots. It was a bad match though, and the only action in the first half was a shot from Gerardo which Bizzarri tipped over the bar and a combination between Darío Silva and Dely Valdés, both returning to the home side this week, which ended with Dely shooting wide.

If anything Valladolid had been playing the better football in the first half, although they had been unable to find the final pass to an active Aganzo. Málaga improved though with the introduction of Sandro, Canabal and then Leko in the second half, and with the game coming to an end Leko found Canabal with a free kick from the right for the giant striker to head down past Bizzarri for the only goal of the night.

Valladolid's frustrations got the better of them after that, and first Aganzo and then Colsa got themselves sent off, leaving them with nine men. They ended the weekend down in fifteenth place, only two points off the relegation spots.
