Celta dropped out of the top four though after they were held to a dull 0-0 draw by Valladolid. Lotina's unchanged side were not given any room to breath by their opponents' pressing game, and their only option in the end was to bombard long balls forward for Mido and Edu to chase. The visitors' victory the week before against Valencia had given them renewed strength in their fight to avoid the relegation spots, and Colsa tested Cavallero with a shot from wide on the right early on.

Otherwise though there were virtually no scoring chances in most of the match, although the visitors had a penalty appeal turned down after the break by referee Pérez Burrull when Mido blocked a close range shot with his hands. Lotina brought on Catanha for the last ten minutes and he at least managed a header on target which Bizzarri stopped. It was not nearly enough though, and Moré's side took away a valuable draw which keeps them three points above the drop zone.
