Espanyol extended their unbeaten run to eleven games after drawing 1-1 at Valladolid, and they are now five points above the drop zone and seemingly on their way to safety. Both goals came early in the first half, Fernando Sales putting the home side in front in the thirteenth minute after picking up a loose ball on the edge of the area to beat Toni, only minutes after the keeper had saved from Aganzo. Three minutes later Roger equalised for the visitors, volleying Maxi's cross wide of Bizzarri.

Valladolid felt they should have had a penalty later in the half when Lopo brought down Aganzo, but the linesman had already signalled for offside. The best chances though after that fell to the Catalans, with Bizzarri preventing the visitors from taking home a bigger spoil and in particular saving well from Maxi either side of the break. In the end both sides settled for a point, and the managers made defensive substitutions to ensure that the result stayed as it was.
