Betis have now gone seven games without a win, and they drop out of the running for the UEFA spots after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Valladolid. Víctor Fernández's side had to come from behind twice to even save a point, Colsa putting the visitors ahead two times in the second half.

The first 45 minutes were soporific, with the only chances falling to the visitors, and in particular to an off-target Aganzo. But Colsa brought the game to life with a shot from the edge of the area two minutes after the restart after Fernando Sales cleverly dummied, and it was game on. Filipescu made it all square with a headed goal from Joaquín's corner, but Colsa restored the lead with a powerful header from an Antonio López free kick.

It appeared that the Sevilla based side were on for another defeat when substitute Dani saved the day with his first goal of the season, turning on a high ball after Fernando headed up a long throw to shoot past Bizzarri. And Fernando almost won it after young debutant Maldonado set him up in injury time, but he could not find the target.

Valladolid ended the game with ten men after Jonathan was sent off for insulting the referee, but they had got what they wanted, a point which takes them eight clear of the drop zone and which most surely keeps them in the first division for another season.
