A sad game in Vallecas, where Rayo Vallecano and Recreativo Huelva both took their bows from the top flight in a half empty stadium. It was a game to forget, with the only real chances falling to the visitors. Gallego missed an open goal early in the first half with Etxeberría lying on the ground, and Javi García hit the bar after the interval. Rayo's caretaker manager Iriondo had to substitute the injured Michel and Mario at the break, which at least gave a chance to young forward Marqués to return to the side. And he used up his third change around the hour mark to bring on reserve keeper Segura, who made good saves from Gallego and Xisco later on. Recre are going down but at least have the cup final to look forward to next week, but the few Rayo fans who turned up trudged home dejectedly, their four year run in the top flight at an end.
