Celta returned to the Balaidos stadium tired but content after they scraped through to the Champions League midweek in Prague. But the effort clearly took it's toll, and they were surprisingly held to a 1-1 draw at home by newly promoted Real Murcia.

Lotina only made one change from that side, Luccin coming back in after missing Wednesday's game through suspension, and when Milosevic headed them into the lead after Contreras flicked on Sylvinho's free kick, it seemed they were en route for a comfortable win. Jesuli and Mostovoi both missed chances to extend their lead after the break though, and Murcia gave a warning that they were not finished when Richi hit the foot of the post.

A few minutes later Contreras lost the ball to Maciel, and in his attempt to win it back he brought down the Argentine midfielder. Referee Turienzo Alvarez had no doubts and awarded a penalty which on-loan Real Madrid youngster Luis García converted. After that Celta did their best to come back again, with substitute Catanha going close. But Joaquín Peiró's new side had shown they will not be a pushover this season.
