Deportivo kept up their run at the top of the table, beating struggling Albacete 3-0 to make it four straight wins in a row. The visitors held on until half time, and could have even taken the lead against the run of play when Molina saved from Pacheco and Viaud shot over the bar. But then two identical defensive errors in a minute from Víctor's corners allowed first Naybet and then Luque to score.

With the game in the bag, Irureta brought on Munitis for his debut with his new side, taking up a position on the right wing. And with the game coming to an end it was the ex Real Madrid forward who crossed in for Pandiani to score for the fourth league match in a row, only one short now of a new record for the beginning of the season.

Depor stay two points ahead of the chasing pack at the top of the table, nineteen places ahead of their opponents who stay in last place without a point to their name on their return to the top flight. The only down side in fact for the Galicians was the red card shown in the first half to one of the substitutes Scaloni for insulting a linesman whilst warming up on the touchline.
