The match between Betis and Racing Santander ending without goals thanks in part to a solid defence and in part to a great performance by ex Manchester United keeper Ricardo. Visiting manager Lucas Alcaraz put out a defensive line up with a five man midfield which, even with Joaquín and Denilson on the wings, the home side were unable to penetrate. And when they did get through, Ricardo was there to make two vital saves before half time and another after the break. At the other end Morán was creating problems on the counterattack, and Regueiro hit the bar after the break and then had a goal disallowed for offside later on. Even a spectacular overhead kick from Palermo could not break the equilibrium, and Racing were the happier of the two when the game ended.
