Celta pulled off an epic come back, fighting back from two goals down to win their first game of the season. The Galicians got off to a bad start, and Cavallero gifted the first goal to Makukula when he completely missed the ball trying to clear, leaving the Congolese striker with the easiest of tasks of shooting into the empty net. Gradually though Celta picked up their game, and should have been level by the break after Milosevic hit the post and then saw his follow up saved by Bizzarri, and Sergio headed wide with the keeper on the ground.

But four minutes into the second half Makukula scored again, picking up a pass from the left to leave behind a static Cáceres and beat Cavallero. It seemed to be all over, but Jesuli narrowed the gap with a shot which took a deflection off Julio César to wrong foot Bizzarri. Lotina took a gamble changing his two centre backs for wide men Angel and Juanfran, and it paid off when Juanfran found Milosevic for him to head past the Argentine keeper. And ten minutes later Mostovoi dived to meet Jesuli's cross into the net and the come back was complete. Valladolid woke up again after that, but Cavallero made up for his earlier mistake denying Makukula his hat-trick near the end. A good victory for Lotina's side, and just the tonic they need for their tricky Champions League tie against AC Milan next Wednesday.
