Villarreal extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 13 games with a 1-1 draw at home to Zaragoza. However it was their third draw in a row at home, and they have yet to take the three points in the Madrigal stadium this season.

The "Yellow Submarine" appeared to be on track though when Víctor opened the scoring with a Beckham-like free kick, bending the wall over the wall to send the keeper the wrong way. But with Villa and Cani looking dangerous, the visitors came back, and midway through the first half a long cross from Cani was headed back by Galletti for Villa to leap up and scissor-kick the ball into the net from close range.

For a few minutes Zaragoza looked like they could score again, but before half time both Víctor and José Marí should have put the home side back in front when free in front of goal. After the break it was Soriano's turn to be frustrated by local keeper Reina, but Villarreal should really have won it when they wasted numerous chances later in the half.

A point though takes the pressure off visiting manager Paco Flores for the time being, although he will have to make some changes in defence for the next match as both Alvaro and his replacement Paco left the field with injuries which could keep them out for a few weeks.
