Albacete moved a little further away from the relegation zone with a 2-0 win over Villarreal, their third home victory in a row. Benito Floro was returning to his old hunting ground, but his side were overshadowed by their opponents, with master of ceremonies Libero Parri playing further than usual and creating havoc in the visiting defence. The ex Valencia midfielder went close twice early on, and Mikel also got in on the act when he headed Pablo García's cross against the foot of the post before the break. Villarreal came back in the second half, with Guayre shooting wide and Roger firing a free kick over the bar, and Roa made a vital save from Roger after giving the ball away to him with a bad clearance.

Parri it was though who finally made the difference, starting and finishing a move which ended with him shooting into the net after Reina had saved Mikel's header. And he had a hand in the second goal three minutes later, finding Mikel again for him to fire in a shot which Basti touched in close to goal. It was enough to secure a vital three points and keep the side a point ahead of the drop zone. Villarreal are only a couple of points above them after only taking two points in their last four games.
