Valladolid beat Albacete 2-0 to move up to the safety of mid-table and leave their opponents only a point above the drop zone. It was a dull game though, with virtually no attempts on goal by either side until the half hour mark, when the locals were awarded a penalty after Buades brought down Torres Gómez. Roa managed to turn Makukula's kick onto the post though, and Julio César blasted the rebound way over the bar with the goal gaping in front of him. However Makukula made up for his miss only five minutes later, getting on the end of Ricchetti's long cross to head his fifth goal of the season past Roa.

The locals were missing the suspended Fernando Sales though, and Fernando Vázquez decided to bring on Xavi Moré, the son of his predecessor, at half time. That improved things, although it was the visitors who came closest to scoring after that, with Munteanu hitting the post and Bizzarri having to save a Parri free kick later on. Valladolid rallied, with Roa having to save from substitute Losada, and with the game coming to an end the Argentine keeper couldn't help himself bringing down Makukula as he attempted to dribble round him. Referee Esquinas Torres produced a red card and pointed at the spot for the second time, and with all three changes made, Cristian Díaz put on the keeper's jersey. He could only stand and watch though as Losada struck the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Seconds later the final whistle went.
