Sunday was good day at last for the city of Barcelona, with Barça winning against Zaragoza and Espanyol beating Real Murcia 0-1 to move above their opponents off the bottom of the table. The only goal came in the eighth minute when Maxi hooked the ball past Bonano, and the home side were already up against it when Acciari was sent off for a rigorous second yellow card with three-quarters of the game still remaining.

The visitors could have increased their lead in the second half when Maxi and Tamudo hit the woodwork, and Tamudo and Héctor both missed chances. A triple substitution improved things slightly for the locals, but in the end they were unable to beat Lemmens, and the home fans called for the head of manager Joaquín Peiró, who has not seen his side win now for thirteen games.
