Osasuna lost ground on the leaders after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Albacete, although they still hold on to sixth place after the clubs immediately below them failed to win. In the absence of the suspended Izquierdo, Javier Aguirre drafted in Expósito for his first game at right back. The on-loan Bilbao youngster was involved in a misunderstanding with Pablo García in the fifth minute, allowing Viaud to open the scoring, and Aranda could have made it two soon afterwards had he been able to take advantage of another defensive mix-up.

However Aloisi made it all square later in the first half after Valdo's header from a Muñoz cross hit the post, referee Turienzo Alvarez choosing to ignore both a foul on Valdo by Delporte and a possible offside against Valdo himself. Either side could have scored in the remainder of the first half, but after the break only a good performance by ex Osasuna keeper Almunia kept the scores level to the end.
