Plenty of goals at Málaga, where visitors Valladolid came away with all the spoils after a 2-3 victory. Neither side had won in the new year, but the locals seemed to be on their way when Salva stabbed the ball into the net midway through the first half from Gerardo's cross. Romero hit the post later in the half, and Canabal should have scored on the follow up as the locals pushed to increase their lead.

Fernando Vázquez had lost Makukula to an early injury, and only Losada had troubled Arnau, returning to the local goal after a long lay off. But shortly before the break Oscar González stepped into Makukula's shoes and levelled the scores with a spectacular volley, and the young forward took advantage of slack defending to add a second after the restart and put the visitors ahead.

By now Valladolid were on top, and Julio César got on the end of Ricchetti's free kick to make it three. Salva pulled one back near the end, running in to head past Bizzarri, but it was too late and his side fell to their fourth defeat in a row. Nothing to worry about for the moment, but they need a result soon to stop their slide down the table.
