Betis kept up their recent good run which has seen them bag eleven points in their last five games, beating Radomir Antic's Celta 1-0 to move comfortably up to mid-table. The locals had the better of the first half, with Fernando almost scoring in only the first minute and Benjamín testing Cavallero with a free kick a few minutes later which the keeper turned away for a corner. And Lembo finally got the goal they were looking for ten minutes before the break, shooting in from close range after Alfonso headed on a corner.

The visitors put their opponents under pressure though later on, with Gustavo López scraping the bar with a long shot, and Milosevic missing the easiest chance of the match when he failed to control a Gustavo López cross near to goal in the final minutes. It was not to be though, and Celta could end the weekend back in the bottom three if results go against them on Sunday. Antic has some work to do to get them back up the table and prepare them for their Champions League tie with Arsenal at the end of February.
