Betis moved up to ninth in the table after a goal in the fourth minute of injury time from Joaquín gave them a 1-2 win over Racing Santander. The Andalucians were pegged back right from the start by their opponents, and found themselves behind in the sixth minute when Benjamín deflected a shot from Matabuena into his own net. Regueiro could have increased the lead when he shot just wide of the post defended by Prats, but soon afterwards Benjamín made up for his mistake scoring the equaliser at the other end with a shot from outside of the area.

The second half started the same as the first, with Lucas Alcaraz's side pushing forward. Prats had to save from Morán, and Víctor Fernández decided to make a double change, bringing on Arzu and Capi on the hour mark. Gradually the pace slowed down, and it appeared that both sides had settled for a point when Joaquín caught out Ricardo with a shot from the edge of the area. There was no time for the Cantabrians to react, and Betis had won their third game in a row and extended their unbeaten run to six matches.
