Deportivo La Coruña drop down below Barcelona after they were beaten 4-2 by struggling Mallorca, who recorded their first home win since the first week of December. Correa opened the scoring for the Luis Aragonés's side in the seventh minute with a spectacular volley after Delibasic won the ball off Andrade and crossed in, but Munitis, given a rare start due to injuries to Luque and Fran, made it all square midway through the first half. Correa and Colsa both tested Molina at the other end though, and young defender Iván Ramis headed the Islanders back in front though before the break.

Referee Megia Dávila also gave the home side a helping hand on the hour mark when Campano fell into the area rather too easily under Andrade's challenge, and Eto'o made it three from the resulting penalty after the Deportivo protests died down. Irureta threw on Diego Tristán and Djalminha, and the two combined for the Brazilian to score his first goal of the season. But Eto'o set up substitute Jesús Perera for him to get a fourth and take his side five points away from the drop zone. Depor's César picked up two bookings in the last three minutes and was sent off, and Irureta's side have now lost their last three games in the league.
