Although there was rain over most of Spain, the sun was shining in Galicia for the match between Celta and Zaragoza. There were dark clouds though in the local dressing room, and manager Radomir Antic offered his resignation after his side were defeated again, leaving them well and truly down in next to bottom spot.

The first half was without much excitement, although if anything the home side had the better of it, Cáceres heading over the bar and Milosevic shooting wide. And after the break the only action came from substitute Mostovoi, who claimed a penalty but was booked by the referee for diving.

The turning point of the match though came a quarter of an hour from the end when Cáceres got himself sent off after picking up a second booking for stopping a quick free kick from taking place. Galletti promptly found the head of Alvaro when the kick was taken for him to open the scoring, and Yordi got a second in injury time on a quick counter-attack as the locals threw everything forward.
