Zaragoza and Racing both moved further away from the bottom spots after drawing 2-2. Although the visitors came out well, it was the home side who took the lead seven minutes before the break when a clever back-heel from David Villa set Dani away on a long run. Five minutes after the restart Villa scored a second himself, turning on to a deflected pass from Galletti to beat Ricardo.

But Pablo Casar scrambled one back only three minutes later after Lainez had pushed out a dangerous header, and the keeper had to make a couple of good saves, in particular from Javi Guerrero, to keep his side in front. With eight minutes to go though substitute Jonathan found Morán with a precise through ball for him to shoot wide of Lainez and level the scores. Both sides finished the fay on 38 points, midway between the UEFA spots and the relegation zone.
