Osasuna still occupy the last UEFA cup spot, stay just ahead of Athletic Bilbao on goal difference, after drawing 1-1 with Málaga. Javier Aguirre had to change his line up at the last minute after Webó went down with gastric enteritis, giving a chance to Richard "Chengue" Morales, who had hardly played all season. And the Uruguayan international took his opportunity to stake a claim for a more regular place in the side with the opening goal, heading a long free kick from Puñal past Calatayud midway through the first half. The only other point of interest in the first half though was an injury to infamous linesman Rafa Guerrero, who had to be replaced by the fourth official.

Juande Ramos's side had not troubled Sanzol throughout the first half, and the manager brought on two extra forwards Insúa and Diego Alonso at the break. Alonso went close with a header, but the locals could have gone two up had referee Mejuto González not turned down appeals for a penalty when Valcarce handled in the area. Osasuna seemed to be heading for a comfortable victory though when Insúa ran in to steer a header past Sanzol only two minutes from the end. That left no time for reaction, and Málaga had saved a point which kept them within two points of their rivals. With seven or eight teams in contention for the two UEFA spots, the fight looks like going to the wire this year.
