Mallorca moved three points away from the relegation spots after drawing 1-1 with Real Sociedad. Luis Aragonés was celebrating his 750th game as a manager, but still managed to surprise the watching crowd with his line up, Finidi playing in the hole behind Eto'o rather than his usual position on the wing. Eto'o it was who brought an early save out of Alberto, but the visitors went in front in virtually their first attack, Kovacevic laying the ball across for Gabilondo to shoot low past Leo Franco.

Real could have gone further ahead soon after the restart, Kovacevic having a goal disallowed by referee Puentes Leira for a borderline offside. Aragonés used up all three substitutions early on, and two of the new men combined to level the scores. The goal though should never have counted, Jesús Perera clearly knocking Delibasic's cross past the keeper with his outstretched hand. Either side could have won it after that, Eto'o breaking free but unable to beat Alberto and De Paula firing a vicious volley against the bar two minutes from the end. But in the end honours were shared, helping both sides inch further away from the bottom three.
