An important victory for Albacete at Racing Santander, the result taking the visitors away from the drop zone and leaving the Cantabrians only a point above the bottom three. The visitors were the better side throughout, with Pacheco and Munteanu going close early on and Pacheco giving them the lead shortly before half time, beating Ricardo at the second attempt after the keeper had pushed out his first effort.

Local manager Lucas Alcaraz had drafted in under 21 international Jonathan for Bodipo, who reported in injured but who was suspected to have ulterior motives, an offer from Betis more likely to come through if he didn't play the four matches he needs from now to the end of the season to automatically renew his contract at the Sardinero stadium.

But the home side hardly had a shot on target throughout the first half, and they went further behind soon after the restart when Redondo finished off after Munteanu's shot on the turn was going wide. After that Albacete shut up shop and set back waiting for the final whistle, which was accompanied by boos from the local crowd against their own players. Racing now have a difficult run in with fixtures against top sides, and they will have to do well if they are to avoid the drop this season.
