Zaragoza's brief spell at the top of the table ended when they were held to a score-less draw by Málaga. It was a dull match, with neither side really creating clear cur chances as the two defences dominated. Luis García was in action a couple of times in the first half, cutting out dangerous crosses from Duda and Gerardo which were heading for the home side's new double strike force, Amoroso and Wanchope, but the best chance of the match fell to local defender Juanito after a mix up in the visiting defence on the stroke of half time, his toe-poke of a shot hitting the foot of the post.

Up to then the visitors had hardly approached Calatayud's goal, but they did at least give the local keeper some work after the restart, in particular from a couple of efforts by Savio, and substitute Geijo almost won it for the locals in the dying minutes. But in the end a point each was about the best they could do, and the Málaga fans have yet to see a goal from their side after 180 minutes of football.
