1-2. 92. Luque. Turned low cross from Romero past Aranzubia.

A last minute strike by Luque gave Deportivo a late win at Athletic Bilbao, a much needed first victory in the league after their disappointing start to the season. Both sides were looking for a good result after their defeats in Europe midweek, and there were opportunities at both ends in a lively first half. Molina had to be at his best to stop an effort from Iraola, and Aranzubia made first class saves from a long shot by Sergio and then from a Valerón header at point blank range.

All three goals came in the second half, with Iraola giving Valverde's side the lead after Jonan García set him up. It only took Deportivo a minute though to be back level, Pandiani heading home his third goal in as many league games from Capdevila's cross. Munitis almost caught out Aranzubia with a clever chip, but Tiko could have won it for the Basques when he crashed a shot against the crossbar. Then with everyone expecting the game to end in a draw, substitute Luque got on the end of Romero's centre to tie up the three points for his side.
