Goals:
1-0. 06. Pineda. Intercepted bad back pass and ran on past keeper to score.

Numancia won this battle between two of the newly promoted sides thanks to an early goal from Pineda. The striker took advantage of a bad back pass from Tena to round the keeper and give his side their first win since their return to the top flight. Lee Chun Soo had come close to opening the scoring a couple of minutes earlier with a long free kick which Sergio Sánchez just managed to turn away for a corner, but otherwise their very few scoring chances.

The home side were left with ten men when Pignol was sent off for a hard tackle with half an hour to go, but the visitors didn't get near Nuñez's goal until ten minutes from the end, when Pachón and then Yordi failed to convert their chances. The locals could have won by a bigger margin in the end though had Lee Chun Soo's last minute effort not bounced back off the post.
