Goals:
1-0. 20. Rivera (penalty). After referee ruled that Velasco fouled Manchev in area.

Levante recorded their second home win in a row, a Rivera penalty enough to give them a 1-0 win over Atlético Madrid. Atlético had bad memories of the Ciudad de Valencia stadium dating back to when they were in the second division, and they found themselves behind again when referee Pérez Lasa awarded a hotly disputed penalty after Velasco barged into Manchev in the area.

César Ferrando had drafted in Salva to assist Fernando Torres up front, and the ex Valencia striker went close twice, a shot over the bar and a header from Musampa's cross wide. Leo Franco had to tip a lob from Manchev over the bar before the break though, and also had to be on his toes to close down Nacho as he lined up to shoot after the restart.

The visitors almost saved a point when Mora pushed Jorge's danfgerous free kick onto the post, but Levante could have extended the lead near the end, firstly when Congo almost caught out Leo Franco with a long lob just over the bar and then when the keeper turned a shot from Ettien around the post.
