Barcelona joined Valencia at the top of the table after coming from behind to beat Zaragoza 4-1 in the last match of day four. Frank Rijkaard made three changes in defence, but Injuries in the first ten minutes to Sylvinho and Gabri left them in disarray, and Víctor Muñoz's team took advantage when David Villa intercepted a bad back pass by Eto'o to open the scoring.

Eto'o made up for his mistake though with a goal midway through the first half, picking up a long ball out of defence to cut in past two defenders to score. Ronaldinho fired a free kick over the bar soon afterwards, but Víctor Valdés had to dive low to stop a shot by David Villa from squeezing past him on the stroke of half time.

Barça went into the lead though just two minutes after the restart, Puyol picking out Ronaldinho with a long ball across field for him to find Eto'o with a pinpoint cross. Twenty minutes later Xavi made it three following a short corner, his spectacular shot striking the bar before entering the net. And Ronaldinho could have got another minutes later when he first ran through from the halfway line but couldn't find the angle to score, and then fired a free kick against the outside of the post.

But by now the Catalans were in full control, and Ronaldinho sent Van Bronckhorst away with a clever reverse pass for him to blast a low shot past Luis García. One more goal would have taken Barcelona above Valencia on goal difference, but Luis García kept out late efforts from Giuly and Belletti, and they had to make do in the end with second place.
