Deportivo La Coruña failed once again to win at home, their match against struggling Albacete ending without goals. The Galicians have only won once in their five league matches at the Riazor stadium, and they ended the day down in tenth place in the table.

Irureta rested some of his key players for the upcoming Champions' League clash with Liverpool, but they were unable to make any inroads in a solid defence, Héctor the only one to cause any problems with a long shot just before the break which just cleared the crossbar.

The local manager made two substitutions at the interval, bringing on Scaloni and Diego Tristán for Fran and Pandiani, but there was little change. The visitors suffered a blow though four minutes after the restart when keeper Valbuena was carried off with a broken wrist after disputing a 50/50 ball with Valerón, and he is expected to be out for a couple of months or so.

The home side did put on the pressure after that, Scaloni shooting just over and Valbuena's replacement Gaspercic stopping an effort from Tristán at point blank range, Duscher crashing a shot against the post on the follow up. But it was not to be, and the disappointed fans gave their side a hard time at the end.
