2-0. 39. Gonzalo. Got above defence to head Riquelme free kick wide of Sanzol.
3-0. 65. Riquelme. Ran on to Héctor Font through ball to chip shot over Sanzol.

Another great performance by Riquelme gave Villarreal a 3-0 win over Osasuna, taking them a point ahead of their opponents into the top half of the table. The Argentine midfielder opened the scoring from the penalty spot after José Marí ran on to his pass and was brought down in the area by Puñal, and set up a second goal for Gonzalo Rodríguez two minutes later with a long free kick.

Javier Aguirre's side had battled hard up to that point but had not troubled Reina, and although Aloisi did get a chance before the break, he put his shot wide. Riquelme wrapped things up in the second half though, running on to Héctor Font's through ball to chip a shot over the advancing Sanzol.

By then the game was over, but Reina still wanted to keep his unbeaten home record this season intact. The young keeper had to be at his best to keep out a Pablo García free kick, but when he was beaten by a Cruchaga header following the resulting corner, Javi Venta was there to clear off the line. Osasuna had been held at bay, and they returned home having suffered their third defeat in a row.
