Getafe moved out of the relegation spots with a 1-0 win over Málaga, their third victory in just over a week. The two sides had mixed fortunes in the cup during the week, the home side beating Las Palmas and the visitors falling to Lorca after having had two men sent off, one of whom, Amoroso, had to sit out this match as a result.

The visitors struck first though, Sánchez Broto just stopping a long shot from Leko from sneaking in. Pernía brushed the bar at the other end with another long shot, and the two sides went in level at the break.

The only goal of the game came just a minute after the restart, half time substitute Gallardo scoring just a minute after coming on with a shot following a corner which took a deflection off Valcarce.

Vivar Dorado and Riki could have extended the lead a few minutes later, the first with a header wide and the second with a free kick which Calatayud saved, and both sides hit the woodwork from free kicks before the final whistle, Duda's long effort coming back off the crossbar and Craioveanu's deflected kick striking a post. But the three points stayed in Madrid, and Getafe moved level with their opponents on points.
