In Spain you often hear that the first division is divided into three separate leagues, one between Real Madrid and Barcelona, one between the rest of the sides fighting for the remaining European spots, and one to avoid relegation. Getafe and Racing Santander are currently in that last category, and they met at the Alfonso Pérez stadium in the last match before the Christmas break in what was to both sides a six pointer. And it was the hosts who ran out winners thanks to two goals from Riki in the first half.

The ex Real Madrid forward put his side in front in only the fifth minute after Craioveanu set him up, and added a second before the break on the follow up after Dudu Aouate blocked an effort from Gabi. Racing had had their chances before that, in particular Aganzo, Javi Guerrero and Ayoze all testing Sánchez Broto, and the local keeper kept up the good work in the second half to take his team two points above their rivals in the table.
