Sevilla's push for a place in the Champions' League took a step backwards when they were held to a 0-0 draw by Getafe. The Andalusians were confident having beaten Real Madrid in the last match of 2004, but they were unable to break down a well organized defence and ended up dropping points for only the second time this season in the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium. Only a couple of efforts from Javi Navarro and Daniel Alves late in the first half caused any problems for Sánchez Broto, and the visitors could have scored themselves when Renato gave away an indirect free kick inside the penalty area after lifting the ball in the area and deliberately heading it back to his keeper, Craioveanu's shot finally being turned away for a corner by the defence.

A frustrated Caparrós rang the changes after the break, bringing on Makukula for his first game of the season after recovering from a serious knee injury, and then threw on under 17 international Capel and finally Antoñito. But Sánchez Broto saved the only really dangerous shot from Alvés, and Esteban had to be at his best at the other end to keep out a cross which Javi Navarro deflected towards his own goal. In the end though honours were shared, and Getafe move four points clear of the drop zone with their fourth away draw in a row.
