A Real Sociedad side still reeling from their six minute defeat against Real Madrid were beaten by an efficient Albacete on Sunday evening. The visitors took the lead early on when Pacheco's long shot bounced past keeper Riesgo, who probably should have done better had he been more attentive. And Alvaro could have made it two soon afterwards when he headed wide when free in front of goal.

Real's first attempt at goal came on the half hour mark when Luiz Alberto headed over the bar. But the Basque side thought they had scored close to the break when Gaspercic stopped Gabilondo's shot as he was falling back over the line, referee Daudén Ibáñez waving away claims that the ball had entered the net before the keeper got it away.

Albacete went two up though just three minutes into the second half, Pacheco left with the easiest of tasks after Riesgo got himself into a twist when trying to clear and only resulting in touching the ball to the striker with his other (wooden?) foot. Nihat tried to make amends but his effort was stopped by Gaspercic, and Francisco could have increased the lead when he headed against the post following a corner. The Manchegans had done enough though, and they move four points clear of the drop zone, now only three points behind their opponents.
