Villarreal are going from strength to strength in the new year, and they followed up their three goals against Barcelona last week with four after beating neighbours Levante 2-4. Guayre started things off in only the third minute, pulling down Riquelme's long pass to beat Mora, and Forlán added a second around the half hour mark after the keeper tipped Guayre's shot onto the bar. Only Mora kept the visitors from adding to their score, but Bernd Schuster's side had a chance to pull one back just before half time when they were awarded a penalty after Reina fouled Alexis. However the keeper made up for his mistake saving Rivera's spot kick.

Rivera got his own back at the start of the second half, beating Reina with an angled shot from the edge of the area. But Villarreal restored the two goal cushion on the hour mark when Forlán got on the end of Héctor Font's cross, the ex Manchester United striker's eleventh of the season. Schuster brought on Reggi, and he made his mark almost immediately heading home a cross from Pinillos. Levante could do no more though, and Marcos Senna finished things off near the end to take his side's unbeaten run to six matches.
