Deportivo La Coruña failed to keep up the momentum after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Getafe, and they ended the day in ninth spot. The home side had the better of the match, with Riki getting closed down at the last minute by Coloccini when through, and Vivar Dorado shooting just wide in the opening minutes. Craioveanu came close with a couple of dangerous free kicks, and later in the first half brought a good save out of Munúa, who also cut out the follow up by Pernía. But shortly before the break it was the Galicians who took the lead, Diego Tristán and Valerón worked a quick passing move which Tristán himself finished off.

It was a big blow for the locals, but they didn't give up, Pernía firing a free kick just over the bar early in the second half, and Munúa saving his side again with an excellent stop from Nano following a corner. But Getafe finally got the goal they deserved when Gabi struck a fierce shot following a short free kick which Munúa got a hand to but couldn't stop. The under 21 international came close to winning it as well in injury time from another free kick, but this time his effort went wide.
