A 1-0 victory for Zaragoza against Racing Santander takes them safely up to mid-table and leaves the Cantabrians only a place above the drop zone. Both sides were missing players through suspension, with Juanma, Regueiro and Aganzo all out for visitors and the locals missing their double anchor men Movilla and Zapater. Víctor Muñoz surprised everyone though playing Milito in midfield and giving a first start to B team defender Capi in the middle of defence.

There was not much action in the first half though, with Savio shooting over the bar and Villa being closed down in another attack, and Racing's only reply was a header from Arizmendi which Luis García dealt with easily. The locals went ahead though on the hour mark after Oscar headed a long free kick into the goal mouth, Capi's header being pushed away by Aouate only as far as the young defender who poked it back in to the net. Moratón could have saved a point near the end but he headed just wide, and the final whistle went soon afterwards.
