Betis failed to take advantage of slips by the teams above them when they were held to a 2-2 draw by a battling Getafe, although it could have been worse had it not been for a couple of mistakes by the Madrid based side's keeper Sergio Aragoneses. Vivar Dorado fired the visitors into an early lead after picking up a cross from Cotelo, and the locals threatened to run away with the game before Aragoneses hesitated coming out to a Joaquín free kick, allowing Rivas to head home an equaliser. The goal woke up the hosts, and the visiting keeper made up for his mistake with good saves from Edu and Marcos Assunçao.

Pernía put Getafe back in front three minutes after the break though with a spectacular first time volley from outside of the area after Assunçao headed out a corner, leaving Doblas rooted to the spot as the ball dipped over his head. But a dreadful mistake by Aragoneses allowed an Assunçao free kick to slip through his hands just a few minutes later. Betis could have won it after that, Luis Fernández hitting the bar with a cross and Edu heading another chance wide. But that would have been hard on the visitors, and in the end a draw was probably a fair result.
