Mallorca sink further down into the relegation spots after they were beaten 3-0 by Racing Santander. With Iuliano and Okubo still out injured, Héctor Cúper put out a side similar to the one that beat Real Sociedad the week before. With the Cantabrians only four points above them at the start of the day this was one they were desperate to win, but things didn't exactly go according to plan. With less than a minute on the clock the home side forced a corner, and after Moratón headed on Morán's kick, Anderson Silva was there to fire a shot into the roof of the net. And it got worse just three minutes later when Aganzo flung himself at Morán's cross to fire a spectacular volley past Moyà.

Things quietened down after that, and the visitors held on until the sixth minute of the second half when Javi Guerrero and Aganzo combined to set up Benayoun for a third goal. Cúper brought on reinforcements, but Aouate was only troubled by a shot just wide of the post from Tuni, and Racing could have scored again when Morán shot just wide and Jonathan saw his lob cleared off the line by a defender with the keeper beaten. It was a great result for Nando Yosu's side, who open up a seven point gap between themselves and the bottom three.
