Deportivo La Coruña rejoined the race for the top spots, moving up to only three points behind fourth placed Betis after a 0-1 win at struggling Albacete. The Galicians survived the early pressure, with Munúa saving well from Peralta and Mikel in the opening minutes, and Diego Tristán and Munitis both tested a shaky Valbuena at the other end. Munitis got himself booked for diving in the area before Depor finally got the goal they were looking for, Coloccini getting on the end of Víctor's cross to get his first goal for his new club.

Monteagudo changed his formation at the break, bringing on midfielder Alvaro for Oscar, and they pushed forward looking for the equaliser. Mikel headed just wide and Pacheco and Olivera both brought good stops out of an excellent Munúa as the visitors peddled back. Víctor could still have got a second goal for the visitors when his free kick was deflected just over the bar, but only a last minute save from Munúa from Mark González ensured the three points for Irureta's side.
