Betis drop out of the Champions League spots after being held to a 2-2 draw by Levante, city rivals Sevilla's win at Espanyol relegating them to fifth spot. Serra Ferrer's side were caught napping by an enthusiastic opponent who almost scored in the opening minutes, Rivera's long shot coming back off the post. But they soon gathered their wits, and Edu put them in front with an opportunist header after Oliveira's first shot was parried by Mora.

Bernd Schuster's side equalised midway through the first half, Rivera tucking the ball into the empty net after Manchev's first shot was cleared off the line by Rivas. But Betis were back in front just six minutes later, Oliveira getting above the defence to head Marcos Assunçao's free kick down past Mora.

Again though Levante didn't give up, and Doblas had to be on his toes to keep out efforts from Sergio García and Manchev after the break. Oliveira could have increased the lead when he shot wide, but the visitors made it all square again soon afterwards when Juanma picked up a loose ball on the right of the area and fired a low shot past the keeper. Serra Ferrer tried his best to win the match, bringing on Dani for his first appearance in several months after a long lay-off for an ankle injury. But the visitors held tight for another point which virtually endures their presence in the top flight for another season.
