Albacete look to be on their way to the second division after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Getafe, the Manchegans having now only picked up one point in their last nine games. It was a dull match though, and there were virtually no chances for either side in the first half. Only a couple of free kicks from Momo and Pacheco caused any problems for local keeper Sánchez Broto, and Riki failed to find the target after a good team move at the other end.

Quique Flores brought on Gabi at the break, the under 21 international now recovered from the injury he picked up against Real Madrid, and the locals started to take control. With just over an hour gone Belenguer headed on Craioveanu's free kick, and after a rebound the ball fell to Vivar Dorado, who gratefully turned it in to the net.

Peralta went close and Santi tried his luck with an overhead kick as the visitors tried to fight back, but the game was lost, and Riki could have finished things off when he shot straight at Valbuena with the goal at his mercy near the end. With their team fairly safe after climbing to twelfth in the table, the local fans started a Mexican wave, although many of them went home early to watch the big match between Real Madrid and Barcelona. They will be playing them both again next season.
