Betis missed out on a chance to move back up to the European spots, their 1-1 draw at Racing Santander leaving them without a win in five games and still a point outside of the top six. The Andalusians could have gone behind though early on when a shot from Javi Guerrero hit the post and bounced back along the goal line, but Marcos Assunçao rattled the crossbar with a long free kick a few minutes later.

Racing started to take control after the restart, Doblas saving a Guerrero header and Benayoun firing a shot over the bar. And they took the lead after a bad back pass let in Regueiro, Doblas saving the winger's shot but the ball eventually finding it's way back for Benayoun for him to force a shot past the keeper. Oliveira headed wide at the other end, but the Cantabrians could have gone further in front when headers from Regueiro and Guerrero were both blocked.

The visitors equalised though with ten minutes to go, substitute Dani running on to Joaquín's through ball to slip a shot past Aouate. Oliveira almost put them in front when his header bounced in front of goal with nobody able to finish it off. But in the last minute Serra Ferrer's side were let off the hook when Guerrero picked up Arizmendi's pass to run the ball into the net, only for the linesman to rule out the strike for a non existent offside.
