Zaragoza and Deportivo are both out of the running for the European places after they cancelled each other out in a 2-2 draw, both sides ending the weekend on 50 points, seven away from the UEFA spots. The Galicians got the better start, Coloccini and Munitis both hitting the crossbar in one attack early on, and they took the lead midway through the first half when Xisco headed the ball over Luis García for his first goal in the first division. And his second goal didn't take long in coming, the young B team striker firing a shot in from close range after Valerón cleverly played on a Munitis cross.

The home side came back after the restart though, Generelo picking up a pass back from Savio to fire a low shot wide of Munúa. Just a couple of minutes later Depor were left with ten men when Coloccini was shown a second yellow card for throwing the ball in the face of David Villa, and Irureta pulled off Xisco to bring on an extra defender. It had little effect however as soon afterwards the defence were unable to scramble away Villa's cross, and Generelo latched on to the loose ball to drive home his second of the night. And he could have completed his hat-trick late on had Munúa not pulled off an excellent save. In the end a point apiece though, and Betis and / or Intetoto permitting, neither will be back in European competitions next season.
