Sevilla dropped out of the Champions League spots after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Getafe, the point not enough to take them back over city rivals Betis who beat Zaragoza the day before. The Andalusians had the better of the opening minutes, with Martí and Adriano going close and Baptista firing a free kick wide of the post. However the locals could well have taken the lead had referee González Vázquez not ruled out a goal by Albiol for offside after Nano's header came down off the crossbar.

Getafe started strongly after the break, Albiol hitting a post from a wide angle and Craioveanu bringing a good save out of Notario from a free kick. Jesuli shot wide at the other end, but soon afterwards the hosts had another goal disallowed for a borderline offside when Kome got the ball in the net after Notario could only push out a shot from Nano. Sevilla almost won it in the end, Sergio Aragoneses saving well when Jesús Navas set up Renato. But a draw was a fair result, and whilst the local fans celebrated the fact that they will have another year in the top flight, the visitors went home concerned that they do not now depend on themselves for a place in the Champions League next season.
