Málaga and Racing Santander were already sure of staying up before the start of their match, and there was a relaxed, festival atmosphere in the Rosaleda stadium as the Andalusians ran out 2-0 winners.

Nando Yosu made several changes to his line up, giving a first run out to keeper Toño and drafting in Pablo Sierra and Jonathan Valle. But apart from an effort by Torrado they hardly troubled Arnau, and after Baiano missed an easy chance, Edgar put the hosts ahead after picking up a lofted pass from Miguel Angel.

The introduction of Aganzo to join Arizmendi made little difference, and Yosu eventually decided to give youngster Juanjo his first team debut. But with the game coming to an end it was Málaga substitute Amoroso who made the difference, scoring his side's second after a long gallop out of his own half.
