Deportivo La Coruña ended what has been a disappointing season with a draw at already relegated Numancia, a result which at least gives them a chance to qualify for the UEFA cup via the Intertoto. Both coaches were in charge of their sides for the last time, and they took advantage to give a run out to some of their lesser used players, in particular in goal where De Miguel and Dani Mallo were drafted in. Mallo was the first of the two to join in the action, saving from Mario Martínez early on, and De Miguel kept out a couple of efforts from an active Xisco later in the half.

The home side took the lead though just three minutes after the restart when Andrade brought down Palacio in the area, Tevenet converting the resulting spot kick. But a few minutes later the Galicians levelled the scores when Juanpa headed a corner past his own keeper trying to clear. Luque and Xisco both had chances to win it for Irureta's side, but substitute Miguel Angel Nuñez could have given the hosts the three points had his last minute shot not just missed the target. In the end a draw was a fair result, and Deportivo pip Athletic Bilbao for the last Intertoto spot thanks to a favourable head-to-head record against the Basque side.
