With nothing to play for, the game between Racing Santander and Albacete was allowed to kick off earlier than the rest on Sunday the evening. The visitors were already relegated and the hosts safe, and both managers (who were in charge for the last time before returning to their respective technical jobs) used the occasion to give a run out to youngsters and players who had not featured much during the season. It was probably a last appearance as well at the Sardinero stadium for the likes of Benayoun, Morán and Aouate, who together with Regueiro and Javi Guerrero are expected to move on this summer.

The match got off to a leisurely pace, the visitors taking charge early on with Pablo Casar turning an effort from Mikel away for a corner. Racing gradually wrestled away control though, and they went ahead around the half hour mark when Aganzo headed home a Pedro López cross. Mikel should have equalised before the break when he headed against the crossbar, but Aganzo wasted a great chance to get his second of the night after Benayoun set him up after the restart, his shot flying over the bar with Pindado beaten. There was little action after that though and the game ended peacefully a few minutes later, the Cantabrians finishing a respectable seven points clear of the drop zone whereas their opponents ended the season below Numancia at the bottom of the table.
