Celta's spell at the top of the table was short lived as they lost 0-1 at home to Racing Santander. The Galicians were on top in the first half, and despite losing Canobbio to an injury early on they came close to scoring through Baiano and Canobbio's replacement David Silva. But Aouate held firm, and the scores stayed level at the break.

The visitors took the lead though against the run of play when Casquero beat Pinto on the hour mark, and Aouate saved well again from Silva shortly afterwards. Fernando Vázquez took off his wingers to bring on two new strikers, but his side could have been further behind had Pinto not saved an Aganzo penalty after the striker had been fouled by Placente. A good win for the Cantabrians, who move out of the relegation zone as a result.
