Málaga and Alavés share the points in a 0-0 draw which left both down in the relegation spots by the end of the midweek round of matches. Chances were few and far between, the first falling to visiting striker Aloisi ten minutes before the break when Arnau kept out his header, and the locals replying a few minutes later when Nacho headed Duda's free kick against the post.

Chuchi Cos gave a first run out to new keeper Costanzo, and he was called upon a couple of times after the restart. Arnau kept out efforts from De Lucas and Nené at the other end, and Salva came close to winning it for the hosts later on when his header from a corner bounced down and over the bar. Málaga ended the day though with ten men when Anderson Silva was shown a second yellow card, putting a sad end to what was not an entertaining match.
